Normally I do not suggest any herbs for treating candida in children because they respond so well to the basics. Most children are simply suffering from a bad diet and under developed or altered immune systems. Remember that 75% of the immune system is in the intestine. Children are so resilient and respond very well to this approach. If your child is older and weighs 90 or more pounds then you could go the adult route found on the treatment page of this website
. You could also cut the doses in half if they weigh around 45 pounds. Either way, it is your decision.
If you suspect your child may also have parasites from the household pet or other playmates, then check the parasite page
for the solution. Now the manufacturer of the Ultimate Cleanse does not recommend you give their product to children but I do know people that have done so with no ill effects. My suggestion if you choose this route is to cut the doses in half and go from there.
My Advice for Treating Candida in Children
Now advice is all this is, it is not a medical diagnosis or prescription. Its simply what I would do if your child was mine. If you have questions or concerns about your child's candida in children infection feel free to contact me and explain the situation. I would be more than happy to answer your questions and address any concerns as one friend to another. With that said lets get to it.
Colostrum for candida in children is highly recommended. Colostrum contains antibodies and immunoglobulins just like breast milk that stimulates the immune system. It kills candida yeast and allows the existing bacteria in your child to thrive. One of these immunoglobulins is known as IgA and IgA defends all the mucous linings
of the body, the place candida loves to attach.
I recommend chewables because the immune factors are absorbed sublingually thereby avoiding destruction from the stomach acids. What is not absorbed will dissolve before it gets to the stomach and won't trigger stomach acid production so it gets to the intestines to do its work. I also suggest high potency colostrum chewables for candida in children that are flavored so kids will take them. Colostrum tastes awful if it is not packaged this way and your kids will gag and refuse to take it.
Now that you are killing the candida in your child while rebuilding the immune system with colostrum. They need to take a high dose probiotic to further displace more candida, clean them out, and restore bacterial balance within their intestine.
I like Custom Probiotics CP-1
or the 11-Strain Formula
which are both very high dose and that is what they need right now. CP-1 is a capsule and the 11-Strain Formula is a powder. The digestive system contains around 12 trillion bacteria so giving someone 1 billion or 6 billion is a complete waste of time when they may have candida yeast overgrowth. It's kind of like going to a forest fire with a squirt gun. I suggest 2 to 4 capsules a day but start at one for a week then raise to two or more. With little children the best thing to do is crush the colostrum and add the contents of the probiotic capsule. Then add a little water to make a paste and feed it to them with a spoon.
If they complain about a tummy ache please realize this is normal with people that are not used to taking probiotics. What's happening is the bacteria is cleaning them out along with the candida in children infection. They may get slightly constipated as well. This only lasts 3 to 5 days then they'll have a good bowel movement and everything will be back to normal. So don't stop giving it to them, it will pass.
Organic Coconut oil
is also highly recommended for candida in children because coconut oil explodes the nucleus of the candida cell. This has been medically proven! You can also use it on the skin, diaper rash or any form of skin yeast. I have had reports that it works just as well as any prescription anti-fungal and its non toxic and won't hurt a thing. As a matter of fact, the fats will really help with a young child's brain development. It is also very heat stable so you can cook with it unlike regular vegetable oils that become toxic when heated.
If this doesn't work, most of the time it does but it depends upon how bad they have it, you can add BioFase and Profase. Start them at 1/2 capsule each at bedtime and work up as needed. The suggested maximum dose is two caps two times per day. If they develop very lose stools from any of these probiotics you are giving them a little to much so back off the dose a little so it stops and then stay at that dose.
You will also need to restrict the sugar, grains, dairy, and yeasty foods in their diets so you don't continue to feed the candida yeast. They may scream and have a tantrum or whatever but you have to do it. Their sugar cravings will pass after a while so don't give in.
Does this really work for candida in children?
I wanted to take a moment of your time to let you know that our daughter Amber (3 1/2) is doing extremely well after following your recommendations. No more itchy vagina and excellent over all heath.
I ended up buying the colostrum chewables by Symbiotics 1.2g each (now I need to find them in Canada! Paid lots of duty fees!) and the pro-biotic you recommended with 50 billion active cells since I could not quickly find any equivalent product at our local health food stores. They both were delivered within 48 hours which was wonderful. I take the colostrum as well especially when I feel a slight sore throat and a cold coming on since I read this suggestion on your web site.
Amber is still taking one pro-biotic a day (I open it up and spread it on her wheat free flax seed bread or in yogurt) and is taking the colostrum chewables - which she really likes and I am trying to bring her down from 3 in the am and 3 in the pm down to 1.
Thanking you again for your time and generous spirit.
Sincerely and most gratefully,
Pointe-Claire, Quebec, Canada
The Colostrum I am taking myself and giving to my precious baby is working. No more yeast infection for Baby Allyson! Thanks for your time and attention.
