The largest cause of candida can often be attributed to antibiotics and their overuse in today's society.
Biotic means life, anti means against something, so antibiotic is against life. They destroy bacteria within the human body which some think is a good thing, and in many cases it is, there are bad bacteria that do cause disease. However, there are far more good bacteria that are beneficial to life and they are found within the human immune system, and 75% of this immune system is in the intestine. These beneficial bacteria are a very necessary part of that immune system. Without them, bad bacteria that is already present within you can create disease as it gets out of control, candida yeast can get out of control, wastes build up in the intestine, etc.
are made from molds and certain species of molds will kill certain species of bacteria. That is why there are different kinds of antibiotics that are prescribed for different diseases. Candida is a mold, and when it gets out of control it also kills bacteria, both good and bad. But the toxins it injects into the body, as it tries to turn you back into dirt, are far worse than any bacteria can be. These toxins are called mycotoxins and are known to cause cancer in the human body. Matter of fact, many doctors are now beginning to think that candida causes cancer. Candida commonly injects over 75 of these mycotoxins into the human body causing many illnesses and a wide range of symptoms.
How does this work as a cause of candida? When you are born your intestine is sterile, containing no bacteria, and you basically do not have an immune system. As you pass through the birth canal you swallow vaginal fluids that contain good bacteria and sometimes yeast. Then you suckle at your mothers beast where colostrum is introduced, giving you a wide range of growth factors and immunoglobulins to jump-start your immune system. The colostrum also helps the good bacteria to attach to the intestinal wall.
Also present in this colostrum and the milk that soon follows are beneficial bacteria
. These beneficial bacteria are passed to you and begin to grow colonies in your intestine and become the major part of your immune system. Also introduced are every antibody to every disease, virus and bad bacteria mom has been exposed to.
Usually the cause of candida begins with a common cold or ear infection and the prescribing of antibiotics to get rid of the infection. Whether the antibiotic works or not, it most certainly kills some of your good bacteria. Some of these bacteria probably repopulate if allowed to but it does take time. Many times women are put on antibiotics for urinary tract infections. Or kids with chronic ear infections. Teenagers and young adults will be put on antibiotics for years trying to control acne, the results in these cases is usually devastating. I have seen young peoples health literally ripped from them because of this. They become so ill they can hardly even function on a day-to-day basis as the candida takes over their body.
There are other causes of candida including:
- Birth control pills
- Estrogen dominance
- Other prescription drugs
- Over the counter medicines
- Antibiotics in meats
- Moldy grain foods
- Chlorine in the water we drink
- Exposure to chemicals on a daily basis
- Pesticide exposure
- Fluoride consumption
- Antibacterial soap
- Immune system problems
- Poorly controlled blood sugar levels
- Hormone replacement therapy
Bacteria are delicate, and are unfortunately easily killed on a daily basis. We used to replace them at a good pace when we ate closer to nature years ago and fed them the right foods, mainly fresh vegetables. Now, our foods are so processed and sterilized we no longer get the beneficial bacteria that used to be found on fresh foods. This destruction is the sole cause of candida in most cases. There are of course severely immuno-compromised individuals that get this as well.
How Can Food Be a Cause of Candida?
The modern day diet is high in processed foods, if you can call it food, that are very low in fiber and nutrients. This lack of fiber allows the food to have longer transit times before it is disposed of in the intestine, up to 100 hours. A healthy diet will promote a transit time of up to 45 hours.
This longer length of time in the colon allows these foods to ferment creating alcohols and toxins that kill good bacteria altering the 85% good to 15% bad bacteria ratio. This creates a condition known as Dysbiosis or an imbalance in intestinal bacteria and this weakens the immune system considerably. Drop the antibiotic bomb in this mix and a candida infection can get started right away.
A diet high in fiber from quality meats, vegetables, fruits and good fats, create an environment that speeds the transit time and promotes good bacterial growth. This keeps you healthy as it keeps the good bacteria at optimum levels so they maintain the delicate 85 to 15% balance. When this bacterial balance gets thrown off and the good bacteria are reduced, it can become a cause of candida.
has been linked to Candida, Yeast Infections, Vaginitis, Urinary Tract Infections, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn’s Disease, Diarrhea, Constipation, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Pancreatitis, Ear Infections, Lupus, Breast Cancer, Cirrhosis of the Liver, Acne, Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS), and Psoriasis.
At some point in this bacterial destruction, some people will most certainly have the yeast in their bodies get out of control and become invasive candida, especially if you throw in an antibiotic or two. Single celled yeast then becomes multi-cellular candida in these cases and it will begin to send out its roots in search of food. If the food supply is good, which is common with todays diets, it will reproduce single celled yeast spores at a rapid pace. If the food supply is bad, its roots continue to look for food, mainly glucose. Although very rare, if it taps into your blood supply you have big problems. Usually candida gravitates to the kidneys once in the blood and shuts them down resulting in death.
Its soul purpose in life from that point on is to decompose your body and turn you back into dirt.
